We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with government contract experience to join our team at the McLean Corporate Office. This role is responsible for managing general ledger transactions, preparing monthly financial statements, overseeing bank reconciliations, managing our outsourced Accounts Payable vendor, and supporting audit processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and experience in government contracting environments. This role requires exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to manage ambiguity and change.

Location: Hybrid - McLean, VA

General Ledger & Financial Reporting

  • Enter financial data and transactions into the general ledger
  • Participate in month-end close activities
  • Perform account reconciliations
  • Respond to internal and external audit inquiries
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes

Other Accounting Duties

  • Prepare monthly financial statements
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Enter cash receipts
  • Oversee outsourced Accounts Payable vendor
  • Prepare and submit employee expense reports
  • Assist with audit processes
  • Troubleshoot Deltek Costpoint system issues and support upgrades

Collaboration

  • Provide support to the Controller, Finance Director, auditors, and other accounting/finance professionals as needed

Qualifications

  • Clearance Required: This position requires the ability to pass a Public Trust background investigation but the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level or above is preferred.
  • Bachelor's (BS) degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting with 2+ years of relevant experience in government contracting (can substitute 5+ years of relevant work experience for degree)
  • Must have experience with medium-to-large government contracting entities
  • Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint and Time & Expense systems
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Paycom Interface, and Cognos/CER
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • High aptitude for numbers and accuracy
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive data
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and government compliance is a plus
