Senior Corporate Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to support corporate accounting functions, including monthly close, reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis. This position will work with multiple departments and external auditors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across corporate accounting processes. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, technically strong, and proactive in driving process improvements.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform monthly closing activities in PeopleSoft, including transaction processing, troubleshooting, allocations, and specialized system functions.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain allocation methodologies and documentation related to charges to subsidiaries and affiliates.
  3. Prepare and review journal entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with policies and procedures.
  4. Perform and review reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and implement solutions.
  5. Conduct monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc variance analysis to identify misstatements or unusual activity in financial results.
  6. Assist in the preparation and detailed review of internal and external reports under GAAP, FERC, and company formats.
  7. Analyze and implement accounting pronouncements and regulatory changes as needed.
  8. Support external and internal audit activities, including quarterly and annual reviews.
  9. Prepare information for rate case filings and respond to data requests from regulatory commissions.
  10. Recommend and document accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements.
  11. Lead preparation of complex journal entries, including eliminations and consolidations.
  12. Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors on accounting matters.
  13. Support special projects and initiatives as directed by the Corporate Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or regulated industry setting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP; FERC accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with PeopleSoft General Ledger and related systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and present findings clearly.
