(HYBRID) SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - CPA/CMA NEEDED

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in consulting with staff, state affiliates, and associated organizations on accounting, auditing, financial management, and regulatory compliance. You will provide technical expertise in analyzing financial statements and employee benefit plan structures and costs, recommending cost-effective financial operations, and developing strategies to enhance fiscal accountability.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate audit preparation activities, conduct comprehensive financial analyses and forecasting, and prepare financial statements and consolidated schedules.
  2. Plan economic implementation guidelines and conduct fiscal management training for end-users.
  3. Review and analyze cash flow management, provide expertise for system enhancements, and ensure timely regulatory filings, including federal, state, and local tax filings, Department of Labor (DOL), and Federal Election Commission (FEC) reporting.
  4. Research emerging financial and accounting issues and make recommendations regarding their impact and implementation.
  5. Adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and federal, state, and local requirements.
  6. Investigate financial records, write reports, and make presentations to senior management.
  7. Provide onsite technical assistance and develop financial training and presentations using applicable financial software.

Essential Skills

  • Proven skill in diversified accounting, financial management operations, and complex problem resolution.
  • Experience in general ledger, financial statement, and audit preparation using advanced spreadsheet applications such as Excel.
  • Highly effective analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and effectiveness in handling multiple complex projects under stringent timeframes and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying rules and regulations related to IRS Form 990, 5500, and DOL Form LM2.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of progressively responsible professional accounting and financial management experience.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, or Institute of Internal Audit designation with experience in auditing and tax preparation.
  • Department of Labor and Federal election regulation compliance preferred.
  • Union/association/government experience and LM2 tax experience.
  • ERP implementation experience.

Work Environment

This position operates under the Office of the CFO in a hybrid work environment. The role may require extended hours on evenings and weekends, and potential travel is required. You may be asked to provide samples of work products, such as financial statements, spreadsheets, or presentation materials, during the interview process. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, District of Columbia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.15 - $75.00/hr.
