About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manager of Payroll with 5+ years of payroll management & supervisory experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying policies and procedures to process company-wide payroll as directed by the Controller. This position is responsible for oversight and management of 1 Payroll direct report. You will verify and reconcile time reporting information through the POS timekeeping system and updating UKG to complete accurate bi-weekly payroll processing and related reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES: include but are not limited to the following: Oversee the payroll processing procedures to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions in accordance with Company policies. Design and execute an efficient payroll processing system, collaborating across multiple departments, while ensuring appropriate internal controls. Manage the daily tasks of the payroll specialist to ensure payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner. Mentor, guide and develop the payroll specialist. Critically review and document third party payroll vendor performance/cost analysis. Drive performance improvement and command an ROI in line with the service value offered. Own registration and all compliance processes for state, local, and federal tax compliance. Advise Finance and HR of any necessary actions. Review and record all payroll related journal entry transactions entered in the company ERP system. Prepare monthly, quarterly, or annual reports of compensation/payroll information. Primary contact for the annual payroll, state worker's compensation and 401K audits. Support ad hoc payroll information requests; drive UKG to develop efficiencies using reports and forms to provide the information to support underlying requests.
Other duties as deemed necessary and required as position evolves.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Solid understanding of multi-state and local tax/benefit compliance. Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality and integrity. Ability to multitask, prioritize and organize efficiently. Strict attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel. Strong verbal/written communication skills. Restaurant or hospitality industry experience is a plus. Experience with multi-locations and multiple entities is a plus Must have a customer centric focus and view the accounting function as a service provided to Operations. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.
An Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field is preferred.
