Position: Respiratory Therapist

Location: Primarily Battle Creek, with possible work in Grand Rapids based on census
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift, 4x12-hour shifts/week
Guaranteed Hours: Yes
 

Job Overview:

The Respiratory Therapist provides advanced respiratory care and patient transport, working independently within the scope of their license. Responsibilities include:

  • Administering physician-prescribed respiratory treatments
  • Operating ventilators (invasive/non-invasive), nebulizers, oxygen devices
  • Suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), chest physiotherapy
  • Performing oximetry, capnography, EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Conducting pulmonary function tests (NIF, VC, etc.)
  • Assisting with procedures like bronchoscopy, chest tubes, trach care
  • Drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases
  • Providing CPR (BLS/ACLS certified), endotracheal tube insertion/removal
  • Equipment setup, maintenance, and documentation
  • Patient education, discharge preparation
  • Communicating with physicians and participating in shift hand-offs
