Job Overview:
Select Medical is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift travel assignment. In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering high-quality patient care while promoting a culture of safety and supporting a multidisciplinary care team. The RN will supervise LPNs, CNAs, and orientees, and actively participate in patient rehabilitation and education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of admission
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses
  • Educate patients and families throughout care, beginning at admission
  • Initiate and coordinate discharge planning
  • Communicate status changes effectively with team members
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital policies
  • Participate in unit team-building and quality improvement initiatives

Patient Population:

  • General rehab and medical patients
  • Common diagnoses: post-op, cardiac, trauma, neuro
  • ICU-level patients may be present (1+ year ICU experience is highly preferred)

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (state-specific or compact)
  • BLS (AHA) – Required prior to first shift
  • ACLS (AHA) – Required prior to first shift (CIRH only)
  • Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience
  • 1+ year of ICU experience highly preferred
  • Strong documentation and interdisciplinary communication skills
  • Commitment to safety, compassion, and teamwork

Additional Info:

  • Charge responsibilities may be assigned after orientation
  • Focus on safety: including lifting, infection control, falls, and environmental hazards
  • Candidates must be resourceful and team-oriented
  • Orientation and unit-specific training will be provided
