Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown (1W)
Setting: 33-bed unit, nurse-to-patient ratios 1:5-6 (nights)
Shift: 12-hour nights
Hours per Week: 36
Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract

End Date: April 4, 2026
Scrubs: Navy blue
Ancillary Support: PCAs, unit secretary, phlebotomy
Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1570 - $1680
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (Ohio nursing license required)
Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience
2 years of PCU/Stepdown nursing experience preferred
BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required
Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide provided)
Experience with EPIC EHR preferred
Travel nursing experience a plus, but not required
PCU RN Responsibilities Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop and implement individualized care plans
Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, Insulin)
Monitor and interpret telemetry strips each shift using EPIC
Provide care for patients with cardiac telemetry, vascular, med-surg, post-cath, and post-pacemaker needs
Manage lines, drains, and devices (PICC lines, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, ostomies, foleys, chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs)
Utilize advanced respiratory modalities (tracheostomies, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, nasal cannulas)
Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and serve as a patient advocate
Educate patients and families, supporting them through illness and recovery
Practice in accordance with evidence-based standards, clinical protocols, and patient safety guidelines
