Patient Population:
Cardiac Telemetry, Vascular, Med-Surg, Post Cath, Post Pacemakers
Ancillary Support:
1-3 PCAs, unit secretary, phlebotomy available
Scrubs:
Navy blue
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required for Ohio nursing jobs)
Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (required)
BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification (required)
Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available)
Travel nursing experience not required
EPIC EHR experience (preferred)
Critical Care Course, CCRN, or PCCN certification (preferred for PCU nurse jobs)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, Insulin)
Monitor and manage lines, drains, and devices (PICC, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, ostomies, foleys, chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs)
Provide advanced airway management (Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, Heated High Flow, nasal cannulas)
Read and verify telemetry strips per shift using EPIC EHR
Serve as a patient safety advocate and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Educate patients and families, coordinate care, and support coping with illness or injury
Respond to rapidly changing patient conditions and medical emergencies
Maintain professionalism, self-care, privacy, and infection control standards
