About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Accountant with a strong foundation in GAAP, SaaS accounting, and transactional finance to support our growing team. This role is designed to work in close partnership with management and will be hands-on in managing the day-to-day and month-end accounting operations of the business. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and audit-ready, capable of producing accurate schedules and supporting a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own the Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) workstreams, including invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and expense coding
Manage daily and weekly cash activity, assist in preparing 13-week cash flow forecasts
Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accuracy, and perform monthly account reconciliations
Identify monthly accruals and prepaid expenses for proper accounting treatment
Lead sales tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions, leveraging third-party processors
Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP
Maintain audit-ready documentation and schedules, thinking like an auditor to ensure completeness and traceability
Assist with SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606 and billing operations, ideally with tools like Maxio, SaaSOptics, or similar
Utilize tools such as Bill.com or similar platforms for efficient payables management
Prepare schedules for internal review, board reporting, and external stakeholders
Proactively investigate variances to budget and prior month and provide quantifiable explanations to mangement
Proactively identify process improvements in financial workflows and documentation
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
35 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or technology company
Strong understanding of GAAP accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting
Experience with sales tax processing and compliance
Prior experience working with Maxio, SaaSOptics, or similar SaaS billing platforms
Familiarity with Bill.com, QuickBooks Online, and Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data validation)
Experience preparing or supporting 13-week cash flow models
Track record of building audit-ready schedules and reconciliations
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic startup environment
Trust but verify mindset with high attention to detail and analytical thinking
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting or leading a financial audit
Exposure to investor reporting or board reporting packages
SaaS KPI familiarity (e.g., MRR, ARR, churn, CAC)
