POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a motivated, driven, aggressive, and detail-oriented Legal Associate with a strong passion for Medical Malpractice, Nursing Home Negligence, and personal injury law. The ideal candidate will support our attorneys in managing a caseload from intake through trial or settlement, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. They must be detail-oriented associates with a background in Florida medical malpractice law who can independently handle all phases of complex medical malpractice litigation while working closely with senior attorneys and clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and handle medical malpractice cases in state and federal court, from notice of intent through trial and appeal. Analyze medical records with collaborating medical experts to develop case strategies. Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, reports, and trial/settlement documents. Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions. Communicate with clients to provide updates, gather information, and offer legal support. Attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials as needed. Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials. Consult with healthcare clients to provide status updates, legal advice, and case strategy insights. Collaborate with medical providers, investigators, experts, and the team to develop effective case theories and trial protocols. BENEFITS: Competitive Salary based on experience. Requirements: Education J.D. (JD) degree from an accredited law school Motivated, aggressive candidate Does not need to have plaintiff experience, but must have medical malpractice experience. A top graduate with strong credentials will be considered. Admission to practice in Florida 2-5 years of medical malpractice plaintiff or defense experience Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently and work effectively under deadlines. Legal software and case management systems (e.g., FileVine) are a plus, but not mandatory.
Key Preferred Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and standards of care. Sports competitor Experience with settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution methods. Excellent written & verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail Previous judicial clerkship or trial experience Demonstrate experience in collaborating with a medical expert witness. Core Competencies You will not have to market cases, although you are certainly welcome to do so. If you bring in referrals individually or through a referral attorney, you will receive a written, guaranteed fee percentage, as per your Employment Agreement with GOLDLAW. We guarantee a six-figure salary with a contractually binding percentage of the settlements or verdicts you obtain, which is also in your Employment Agreement. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a professional office setting as well as working out in the field with the public at events. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Manual dexterity, physical mobility, and some physical strength/stamina.
