Position Summary:

The HR Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources Department. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of HR practices, compliance and a passion for supporting a team dedicated to serving veterans. The coordinator will be involved in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration and maintaining compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage recruitment and onboarding processes, including sourcing, interviewing, background checks and new employee orientation.
  • Assists in the administration of HR programs, including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures
  • Maintain employee records and ensure HR compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support employee relations, performance management and training initiatives.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP or other HR certification is a plus.
  • Minimum five years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or social services environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and procedures and knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Consistently demonstrates integrity, maintaining a professional demeanor and respecting sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, specifically ADP Workforce Now.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds and navigate the organization’s facilities.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and automobile insurance.
