Location: Austin, TX (On-Site)
This position is based on-site in Austin, Texas. Candidates not currently in the region must be willing to relocate to take full advantage of our hands-on, collaborative work environment.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Field Superintendent to oversee daily construction activities across one or more active job sites. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all fieldwork aligns with project plans, timelines, safety standards, and quality expectations. The Field Superintendent acts as the key liaison between field crews and the Project Manager, with a strong focus on productivity, safety, coordination, and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Crew & Subcontractor Management<BR> Assign daily responsibilities to foremen, subcontractors, and workers Monitor team performance and resolve labor-related concerns Maintain workforce discipline and morale on site 2. Safety Enforcement
Ensure compliance with all site-specific safety procedures and OSHA regulations Identify and mitigate safety risks; lead toolbox talks and safety briefings Respond promptly to any on-site safety incidents or concerns 3. Quality Control
Inspect work-in-progress to ensure it meets specifications, codes, and standards Identify and address non-conforming work before it impacts schedule or cost Support punch list and closeout activities 4. Schedule Management
Monitor field progress and report against project milestones Flag and resolve delays; coordinate recovery plans with PM as needed Ensure that critical path activities are prioritized 5. Material & Equipment Coordination<BR> Schedule material deliveries and verify accuracy and quality Ensure proper storage and handling of equipment and materials Coordinate equipment use and ensure jobsite access logistics are in place 6. Site Logistics
Manage layout and flow of jobsite operations, including staging and access Oversee temporary utilities, security, and cleanliness of the site 7. Issue Resolution
Troubleshoot unforeseen issues on the field such as technical challenges, labor disputes, or weather delays Work proactively with teams to keep projects on track 8. Communication
Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on progress, challenges, and solutions Facilitate coordination meetings with foremen, trades, and subcontractors Maintain open lines of communication across all site stakeholders 9. Documentation & Reporting<BR> Keep accurate daily logs, progress photos, and site observations Track and report on compliance issues, site incidents, and progress metrics 10. Budget Monitoring
Monitor field costs and resource use Alert Project Manager to any cost overruns or change order needs Qualifications & Skills<BR> Proven experience as a Field Superintendent or Construction Foreman Strong leadership, team coordination, and organizational skills Thorough understanding of construction methods, codes, and safety regulations Proficient in reading blueprints, plans, and technical documents Effective communicator with both field crews and project stakeholders Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Computer proficiency (basic reporting, scheduling tools preferred) Construction Management degree or equivalent field experience a plus
