*About the Role:*
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting with direct experience working with construction software. The Controller will be a key leadership member, managing the financial operations of the construction company. This role involves overseeing accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and providing financial analysis to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, financial reporting, and cost control. The Controller would work very closely with the project managers in assisting the achievement of the profit goals established by the Company. *Key Responsibilities:*
*Financial Management & Reporting:*
* Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. * Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. * Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure that accounts are timely reconciled * Prepare financial reports for management and stakeholders.
*Budgeting & Forecasting:*
* Assist in developing annual budgets and financial forecasts. * Monitor project budgets and provide variance analysis. * Work closely with project managers to track construction costs and improve cost control.
*Accounts Receivable and Payables:*
* Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. * Monitor cash flow and assist in managing company expenses. * Ensure proper invoicing and collection procedures are followed.
*Compliance & Internal Controls:*
* Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial requirements. * Support audits and tax filings by preparing necessary financial documentation. * Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
*Process Improvement & Systems Management:*
* Continue to streamline accounting procedures to enhance efficiency. * Train and guide accounting staff on best practices.
*Qualifications & Requirements:*
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred). * 15+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. * Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and WIP reporting. * Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Deltek -ComputerEase, Sage, Viewpoint, or Procore). * Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. * Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
