Job Summary:
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, communication, and support of the organization's employee benefits programs. This includes health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. The Benefits Specialist will serve as the subject matter expert on employee benefits, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies, while providing excellent support to employees and HR partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer day-to-day operations of group benefits programs including enrollments, changes, terminations, and audits.
Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries and provide timely, accurate support and resolution.
Process benefit-related documentation and ensure data integrity within the HRIS system.
Educate employees on available benefits during onboarding, open enrollment, and throughout the year.
Coordinate and support the annual open enrollment process, including communications and system updates.
Work with vendors and carriers to resolve claims issues, discrepancies, and billing questions.
Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA).
Prepare and generate benefits reports and summaries as requested by leadership.
Assist in developing and implementing wellness programs and benefit-related initiatives.
Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions.
Stay current with benefit trends, laws, and best practices to enhance the employee experience.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in benefits administration or human resources.
Solid knowledge of group benefits and relevant laws and regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycom, etc.).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or PHR/SPHR certification a plus.
Experience with benefits implementation or vendor management.
