Role Summary:
The Vice President, FP&A will report to the Chief Financial Officer and serve as a strategic partner to Dyne's Executive Committee. You will lead all financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation activities across R&D, G&A, and emerging Commercial functions. This role requires deep biotech/pharma expertise, particularly within a pre-launch or commercialized product, paired with a hands-on leadership style suitable for a scaling, dynamic environment.
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Act as a financial thought partner to the EC, driving scenario-based decision-making on pipeline investments, commercial readiness, and capital allocation. Develop long-range financial models in partnership with Commercial Leadership, including revenue, COGS, and margin planning for first-in-class therapies. Partner cross-functionally with the CBO on strategic initiatives such as business development, pricing, lead valuation and NPV modeling. Represent Finance in investor, governance, and internal forums; translate complex science into clear, data-driven financial narratives.
Operational Excellence
Lead the corporate planning cycle, including the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning - ensuring alignment with strategy and SEC guidance. Manage budget vs. actual (BvA) reviews, variance analysis, and reporting with functional leads; deliver dashboards and KPIs that support decision-making. Standardize and enhance FP&A processes, leveraging tools enable scalable, data-informed operations. Build and lead a high-performing FP&A team capable of supporting both clinical and commercial growth.
Education and Skills Requirements:
Experience: 15+ years in FP&A, with at least 8 years in biotech/pharma; strong command of clinical development, commercial planning, and portfolio economics. Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field; MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred. Technical Skills: Advanced Excel and financial modeling; experience with ERP systems (NetSuite/Oracle), EPM tools (Adaptive/Anaplan), and BI platforms. Solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance. Leadership: Proven ability to influence across functions, make decisions in ambiguity, and lead high-impact teams in a scaling environment. Commercial Focus: Experience developing launch P&Ls, demand forecasts, and product-level financial strategies for specialty or orphan drugs.
