Veterinary Practice Manager- Angell at Essex Technical School

This is a full time 40 hours per week exempt position. Days and hours will vary. In this position we are looking for an experienced Veterinary Practice Manager to become part of our innovative veterinary clinic which opened in 2019 at the Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical High School (Essex Tech). Located at the Essex Tech Danvers complex, this clinic is part of the veterinary assistant program at Essex Tech. This program for Essex Tech students offers a rigorous academic curriculum combined with experiential training in the on-site veterinary clinic managed by Angell clinicians. The primary focus of a Practice Manager is to oversee the business of the clinic to include inventory management and ordering, equipment contracts and servicing, supervision of veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and high school students, client services, as well as perform the duties of an experienced technician when needed. Additionally, the Practice Manager will be expected to create and support working relationships with the Essex Tech teachers, staff, and students to foster a positive environment of teaching and learning. Some Responsibilities to Include: Provide oversight and support to the veterinary technicians and students in the veterinary assisting program at Essex Tech High School who are staffing reception, scheduling appointments for clients, facilitating doctor’s appointments, running medical diagnostic tests, performing animal restraint, preparing medical equipment for use, assisting in veterinary dental procedures, and preparing and monitoring animals for anesthetic procedures. Perform these activities when necessary. Order pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment and maintain inventory for the practice. Meet with the doctor and program instructors as needed to coordinate student schedules and programming with clinic operations. Prepare and communicate reviews to veterinary technicians and student staff members. Manage and oversee the employee relations and disciplinary processes for the department. Foster and nurture a positive, respectful, and professional relationship among all staff members and clients. Participate as a CVT clinically to support the Essex team as needed. Experience and comfort performing intubation, anesthesia and other veterinary technical skills is required. Physical Requirements: Mandatory regular attendance and punctual presence. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to bend, lift, carry, stoop when assisting to move or position animals Ability to lift 25 pounds or more with assistance and up to 25 pounds independently. Applicant Requirements: We are looking for applicants with at least five years of experience working as a Certified Veterinary Technician and at least five years of hospital management experience. In order to be eligible for the role one must be a current Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of MA and able to hold the certification during their tenure in the position.
