Job Summary
The Utility Controls Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling HVAC and humidity conditions across the growing campus. The operator acts as the call center for departments and staff. In the event of utility outages, Utilities Control Center (UCC) acts as the command center for Facilities Management staff to restore affected utility systems; monitors the Building Automation System, elevator status, the Fire Alarm system, medical gas system and alarms, Swiss Log system, and various other critical components in hospital operations

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
•Perform preventative or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to operation of mechanical or electrical systems
• Troubleshoots programming of building HVAC systems
• Completes work orders using automated maintenance program systems. Diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and adjusts electric, electronic, and pneumatic HVAC controls using tools of trade to ensure required temperatures and humidity to all campus buildings
• Operates computer based Metasys automation system to include graphical front-end interface, building level control field panels, and terminal control units
• Diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and adjusts electric, electronic, and pneumatic HVAC controls using tools of trade to ensure required temperatures and humidity to all campus buildings
• Performs database management of HVAC field panels and controllers
• Installs DDC controls, programming, and graphics for renovations, upgrades, or system enhancement projects
• All other assigned duties related to Facility Operations
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• + 3 years of experience in operation and maintenance of HVAC controls, air handlers, steam and chilled water air conditioning, and pumps
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
N/A
Skills and Abilities
• Previous Building Automation or Energy Management System experience is a plus
• Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Facility Management software. BACnet protocol experience is helpful
• Knowledge of HVAC digital control systems for all aspects of cooling, heating, and ventilation systems
• Effective communicator, Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position will interact with department directors, outside contractors and vendors, and other staff members within the Facilities department
Physical Capabilities
Frequently exerts force to lift, carry, push, and pull. Work requires walking, bending, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work flexible schedules which may include overnight shifts
