Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 08/09/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, rotating Employment Type: Travel Job title: RN - PCU Location: Columbus, OH 43210 Duration: 13 weeks Schedule: Night 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:30) and Day 3x12-hour (07:00 - 19:30) Weekly Breakdown: Weekly Gross: $2,269.00 Per Week On W2(Taxable): $792.00 Per Week Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,477.00 Per Week Overview : Registered Nurse on a mixed acuity surgical oncology unit specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level care. The 12 James Surgical Oncology unit provides high-acuity care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex surgical oncology procedures, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, reconstructive plastics, orthopedic, and cardiothoracic surgeries. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU and medical-surgical patients on a busy surgical oncology floor. Manage patient care in accordance with PCU standards, maintaining patient safety and infection prevention protocols. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome. Monitor and manage specialized infusions such as insulin and heparin drips. Provide advanced respiratory support including chest tube care, CPAP/BiPAP management, and tracheostomy care. Perform cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and participate in emergency response. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Use Epic electronic health record system for accurate patient charting. Maintain patient ratios typically between 1:4 to 1:5 to ensure optimal care delivery. Participate in self-scheduling and flexible shift assignments based on unit needs. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse license, preferably Ohio state license or compact license at time of submission. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, oncology experience preferred but not required. Prior PCU work experience strongly preferred.
Certification requirements: Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Preferred: ONS Chemotherapy Certification
Proficiency in Epic charting system. Ability to handle complex patient care including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and critical care drips. Work Environment Adult and geriatric patient populations. Daily census of approximately 36 patients. Mixed acuity surgical oncology unit with a focus on PCU-level care. Access to specialized equipment: GE telemetry monitors (B450), Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, Stryker beds. Interdisciplinary support including IV therapy, respiratory services, rapid response, pharmacy, and physical therapy.
