The 12 James Surgical Oncology unit provides high-acuity care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex surgical oncology procedures, including breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, reconstructive plastics, orthopedic, and cardiothoracic surgeries. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU and medical-surgical patients on a busy surgical oncology floor. Manage patient care in accordance with PCU standards, maintaining patient safety and infection prevention protocols. Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and manage oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome. Monitor and manage specialized infusions such as insulin and heparin drips. Provide advanced respiratory support including chest tube care, CPAP/BiPAP management, and tracheostomy care. Perform cardiac telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, and participate in emergency response. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Use Epic electronic health record system for accurate patient charting. Maintain patient ratios typically between 1:4 to 1:5 to ensure optimal care delivery. Participate in self-scheduling and flexible shift assignments based on unit needs. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse license, preferably Ohio state license or compact license at time of submission. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience, oncology experience preferred but not required. Prior PCU work experience strongly preferred.
