Unit Description
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) is a 26-bed step-down unit that serves as a critical bridge between ICU and medical-surgical floors. It provides high-acuity, evidence-based care for adult patients requiring advanced monitoring and support, including:
Continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring
Airway management and acute BIPAP support
Central lines and arterial lines
Titrated medicated IV infusions
Multidisciplinary, compassionate care
Patients are admitted from the Emergency Department, PACU, ICU, and medical-surgical units. The team values adaptability, vigilance, and a collaborative approach to care.
