Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) who provides safe, evidence-based, relationship-centered care to women and children, particularly in the NICU. Responsibilities cover direct patient care, education, collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, quality improvement, and professional development.

Essential Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Applies nursing process, theory, and evidence-based practice.
  • Conducts assessments and creates care plans.
  • Collaborates with care teams and educates patients/families.
  • Uses Modified Primary Nursing model for assignments.

Professional Development

  • Encouraged to pursue lifelong learning.
  • Engages in shared governance, councils, or committees.
  • Incorporates ethics and evidence in clinical decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • RN License – NYS
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Minimum 2 years NICU experience (including mechanical ventilation)
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Travel roles: At least 1 year of travel nurse experience preferred

Unit Details

  • Unit Census: Average 45 patients
  • Beds per Unit: 46
  • Staffing Ratio: 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Associate Degree in Nursing accepted with:
    • Relevant NICU experience and/or
    • Active enrollment in a BSN program
