Transportation Supervisor

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Transportation, the Transportation Supervisor performs driver functions and provides transportation for frail and elderly participants from their home to the centers and appointments during the day and also for field trips as part of the activities program and assists with monitoring of safety and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. The Transportation Supervisor also assists the Manager, Transportation with the general supervision, guidance and oversight of assigned InnovAge Drivers.

Driver 50%

  • Provides relief coverage for Drivers as assigned or as needed, and ensures that all InnovAge vehicles are driven in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Drives InnovAge vehicles in a safe and responsible manner which includes; utilizing defensive driving skills, following InnovAge policies, procedures and assigned routes.
  • Loads and unloads participants in and out of InnovAge vehicles and assists participants into and out of their homes in adherence with InnovAge policies and procedures.
  • Assists participants into their homes and helps with simple tasks when necessary and appropriate, such as; helping participants with outerwear and moving of items that are obstructing walking paths.
  • Transports participants to requested appointments that have been pre-arranged by the dispatcher.
  • Keeps Dispatch updated on all events of their assigned routes.
  • Maintains safety and cleanliness of assigned vehicle and coordinates scheduling of van maintenance with the Manager of Transportation.
  • Assists other Drivers with the loading and unloading of participants arriving and exiting the center

Administrative / Supervision - 50%

  • Enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Assists planning of work assignments and equipment allocations to meet transportation and quality/production goals.
  • Review medications and supplies orders, manifest and schedules or receiving notices to determine work sequences and volumes and destinations.
  • Inspect or test vehicles and equipment, to ensure that they are safe, free of defects, and consistent with specifications.
  • Assists Dispatchers and Transportation Manager in their daily activities by providing information regarding overtime, PTO schedules, resource availability and any relevant information for operations.
  • Assists with plans, schedules and assigns the Driver's daily duties such as; medication and supply distribution and pre/post trip inspections. Provides relief coverage for Drivers as needed.
  • Assists with training new and current drivers on new equipment, routes and other necessary information to insure smooth operations.
  • Performs ride-a-longs on Drivers to ensure proper handling of all safety procedures. Functions on call after hours as assigned
  • Provides relief coverage for Transportation Managers at all IGCP Centers as needed, according to priorities defined by the Director of Transportation.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state and federal employment laws.
  • Assists in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of Transportation manager and in partnership with Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assists in responsibility for personnel and route substitution(s).
  • Assists in distribution of all required information concerning the following day's transportation schedules in a timely manner.
  • Assists driver's in the field with unplanned and changing situations in addition to keeping drivers updated on events such as cancellations, add-on's or changes in working conditions.

Required

  • High School or GED.
  • Previous DOT and Defensive Driving experience
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people and goods including the relative costs and benefits.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of PPT's satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Requires Class C state issued driver's license, good driving record and to be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred

  • Two-year college degree preferred.
  • Two years of health care experience working with a geriatric population
  • Previous Lead or Supervisory experience

The pay may vary depending on job related factors, such as work location, experience, knowledge, skills, education, certifications, training and internal equity.
