Title: Network SpecialistWork Location: Various agency locations across five boroughs of NYC. Scheduled Work Hours: Normal business hours Monday-Friday 35 hours/week (not including mandatory unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work(Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week on-site and 2 days per week remote) Job DescriptionNetwork Specialist to assist OTI with implementation of Network technologies for key IT projects. Relevant experience in routing and switching, and datacenter technologies is required. Consult will be assisting OTI with architecture design planning and implementing changes.SCOPE OF SERVICES Network Routing and Switching:TASKS: Conduct field deployment of network equipment with basic configuration for remote access at various locations within New York City. Engineer must be available to visit onsite for migration of network links from legacy device to new network equipment. Coordinate with multiple New York City Mayoral agencies notification using ServiceNow and technical coordination for scheduling cutovers. Upgrade operating systems of new network equipment and implement MPLS configurations. Update asset management in ServiceNow to onboard new devices and once migration is complete release old legacy equipment. As part of any decommissioning activity: remove legacy configurations, remove unused IP subnets, ports from documentation, and update network diagrams, following OTI guidelines Complete router/switch Cisco configuration templates for newly deployed or legacy devices. Perform SNMP, syslog, NTP and NetFlow testing. Attend meetings, follow up on assigned tasks and complete any additional tasks assigned by the manager of the group, in the area(s) of and networking, configuration, VoIP or QoS. MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCENote: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered Twelve (12) years of experience in the field of networking Must have hands-on experience with BGP, MPLS, OSPF routing protocols in a large environment DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Minimum 12 years experience of Cisco network installations in multiple ring configurations interconnected over dark fiber. Experience in deploying Cisco NCS routers, IOS-XR software with complete understanding of the limitations of line cards, power supplies and feature-sets. 6 yrs. Experience in MPLS, EIGRP, OSPF, iBGP, eBGP, IS-IS routing protocols Configuring CORE/PE and CPE routers/switches in a mid to large size organization or carriers. 4 yrs. Detailed understanding of designing and implementing overall enterprise QoS solution, including queuing for Cisco NCS products. 2 yrs. Detailed understanding of deploying management protocols (SNMPv3, Syslog, Netflow,etc 4 yrs. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to work in cross functional teams; excellent attention to detail. Highly self-motivated and strong customer and quality-focus. Sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience working with technical and non-technical staff. Experience reviewing project design and system documents 4 yrs. Experience is designing including network architectural designs in MS Visio is desired Familiarity with City of New York network infrastructure environments and processes. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Travel to / from work office(s) and remote location(s), onsite presence for maintenance windows WILL BE REQUIRED.
