Test Development - Test Development Technologies Specialist Summary: The Test Development Technologies Specialist works with the Test Development Technologies group and reports to the Test Development Technologies Manager. This person works to support the use and enhancement of DRC’s Item Development and Educational Assessment System (IDEAS), a test development database for statewide testing programs. He or she works with Test Development staff, as well as other functional units, to develop test items, construct test forms, provide training and support, provide documentation in the use of IDEAS and other programs, and develop quality control procedures for all steps in the process. Essential Position Responsibilities: Assists in the development of items, including item imports (QTI, Word authoring templates, etc.), media file insertion, and autoscoring setup. Assists in the development and use of print and online forms and their components including online directions, tools, and help files. Provides training of Test Development staff in the use of IDEAS and other programs including the development and maintenance of training materials. Provides support to Test Development staff in solving issues related to IDEAS and other programs and documenting the resolutions. Develops and improves quality control efforts. Works continually to streamline the IDEAS process to improve efficiency, productivity, consistency, and ease of use including the development and maintenance of process materials. Acts as a liaison with other DRC functional groups as it relates to the use of IDEAS. Participates in discussions concerning the requirements and enhancements for developing IDEAS. Continually increases a working knowledge of IDEAS and other programs. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Ability to learn and work with a variety of computer applications Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Ability to problem-solve and provide solutions to complex issues Advanced Mathematical reasoning skills Relate effectively and work respectfully with diverse work groups Organization skills, including working on and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects Ability to adjust to changing circumstances and direction as required Customer service attitude – willingness to coach a system user through a problem Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts Provides support to quality control efforts Ability to work as a team member Willingness to perform routine tasks Advanced computer skills including programming, database development, electronic publishing Experience developing online training and using Moodle Working knowledge of HTML, XML, XPP, etc. Familiarity with QTI and APIP standards Essential Job Requirements: Report to work promptly when scheduled Be able to work under supervision and accept feedback Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Relate effectively and work respectfully with diverse work groups Ability to consistently perform well during times of increased workload Set and meet deadlines Manage multiple job functions simultaneously Other duties as needed Reporting to this position: No direct reports Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day DRC retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
