Job Summary: The Hardware Technical Writer is responsible for developing comprehensive, user-focused documentation that accurately reflects hardware and software configurations. The role requires interpreting complex technical information, examining hardware configuration items, and translating that information into clear and effective content. Primary Responsibilities: Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards. Gain a deep understanding of simulator products and translate complex information into accurate, standards-compliant documentation. Write user-friendly content tailored to the target audience to support user success. Examine hardware configuration items through visual and physical inspection. Interpret specifications, manuals, mechanical drawings, bills of materials, wire-lists, and electrical schematics to create technical documentation artifacts. Gather and organize information from subject-matter experts to write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation. Daily Activities: Work both at a desk and on the production floor. Analyze and reverse-engineer hardware and software components to articulate the design, architecture, functional purpose, interfaces, dependencies, and constraints in documentation. Work Environment: Collaborative, process-driven culture focused on high-quality deliverables. Business casual dress code. Office setting with direct access to the production floor. Small team (approx. 30 people) including program management, manufacturing, engineering, configuration management, IT, technical publications, and logistics. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required). Minimum Qualifications: 1+ years of experience as a technical writer (preferred, not required). Fluent in written and spoken English. Proven ability to learn and understand complex technical subject matter quickly. Experience collaborating with engineers to refine and clarify technical content. Ability to manage multiple documentation projects concurrently. Preferred Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word. Experience with version control systems. Knowledge of modeling and simulation concepts. Practical familiarity with Artificial Intelligence tools is desired.
