Vincentian is hiring a Full Time Supervisor of Maintenance for our Independent Living sites in McCandless, PA!


Summary: The purpose of the Supervisor of Maintenance is to oversee and direct the Maintenance /Security personnel and ensure the grounds; facility and equipment are operating in a safe and efficient manner. This includes assisting in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, as well as established policies and procedures. This also includes working with management and staff to assure a successful maintenance program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to all facility and department work rules, policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains PAR level of maintenance/security supplies and replacement/repair parts.
  • Performs a variety of routine maintenance and repair duties in and around the facility.
  • Ensures that all maintenance/security activity is appropriately carried out.
  • Develops and maintains preventative maintenance/security schedule.
  • Keeps up to date and maintains records of all maintenance/security services conducted.
  • Delegates work assignments to maintenance staff and ensure the timely completion of assignments.
  • Performs maintenance and repair duties in the areas of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical.
  • Acts as contact person for subordinates to report maintenance/security problems and/or concerns.
  • Contacts Director of North Campus Facilities and/or Vincentian Home Administrator to inform of problems and concerns.
  • According to predetermined schedule, tours the facility to inspect the appearance and/or operation of equipment, machinery, and other related equipment.
  • Examines machinery, equipment and surfaces for rust, discoloration, scratches, wear, misalignment, noise, vibration, leakage, possible safety problems, frayed cords, etc.; reports all such defects and makes necessary repairs and adjustments.
  • Tests electrical equipment using testing devises and records results.
  • Inspects fire extinguisher and fire systems, corrects deficiencies.
  • Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe environment. Incorporates safety/risk management standards into daily job performance.
  • Schedules and coordinates contractors regarding all necessary maintenance and/or repair work after consulting with Director of North Campus Facilities and/or Vincentian Home Administrator.
  • Keeps detailed and up to date records of all work performed.
  • Meets with the Director of North Campus Facilities on a regular basis to discuss the needs, requirements and condition of the maintenance department.
  • Provide direct supervision of hourly employees and their adherence to all VCS policies and procedures and department standards and guidelines.
  • Coach and discipline employees as appropriate and in partnership with People Operations and Engagement Specialist while enforcing all policies and procedures.
  • Schedule personnel to meet operational needs and in accordance with volume and budgetary guidelines. Includes scheduling on call rotation and snow removal needs.
  • Complete all necessary entries and approvals relating to biweekly payroll without delaying payroll process.
  • Contribute to the relevant and timely performance feedback to employees through the performance review process.
  • Conduct department orientation, training and coaching of all new employees.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources in areas including recruitment, orientation, training, staff development, performance evaluation, disciplinary action and policies and procedures.
  • Performs job functions in a manner that promotes efficient use of resources.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by Director of North Campus Facilities and/or Vincentian Home Administrator.


Education/Experience:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required.
  • Trade or vocational school degree/certification preferred.
  • Current/valid drivers license required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
  • Able to operate electronic devices (laptop, tablet, I-Phone, etc.) to create and receive work orders.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 70, and other safety practices as they apply to healthcare.
