General Summary
SunGas Renewables, Inc., (SunGas), (www.sungasrenewables.com), a growing leader in the energy transition continues to expand its team as we continue our mission to make a global impact on the energy transition. SunGas engineers and supplies technology and associated services for the production low-carbon energy and chemicals. In addition, SunGas works with exceptional partners to develop, build, own and operate renewable energy projects utilizing SunGas technology. C2X and SunGas Renewables are advancing their $2B+ Beaver Lake Renewable Energy (BLRE) methanol project in central Louisiana. BLRE will produce 500,000 metric tons of low-carbon methanol annually from sustainable wood fiber while sequestering 1 million metric tons of CO2. Now entering FEL-3, the project is planned to start construction in 2026.
We are looking for a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a thriving energy company in Houston, Texas. You will be working on all aspects of mechanical systems designs related to the companys gasification system. SunGas dynamic work environment includes daily interaction with our own technical subject matter experts and suppliers, as well as our customers and their EPC and owners engineers. Applicants should be energized by a dynamic team environment in which a diverse set of stakeholders must be engaged during the successful deployment of SunGas renewable energy platform. This position reports toSunGasManager of Mechanical Engineering.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support on S1000 mechanical equipment design.
Provide support with the procurement of licensor supply equipment, and technical services.
Develop and review mechanical datasheets, RFQs, TBEs, and detail drawings.
Prepare company standards and mechanical specifications.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with vendors and contractors.
Support new products design, improvements, and innovations.
Supporting the growth of the companys intellectual property portfolio related to its technology.
Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Experience in design of complex and high temperature mechanical equipment.
Experience as requisition engineer for large project procurement activities.
Excellent computer skills, with experience in CAD program.
Familiarity with design codes and standards such as API, PIP and ASME.
Previous EPC industry experience and/or fabrication is desired.
Experience with specifying heat transfer and/or rotating equipment is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Professional Engineering (PE) certification is .
Education and Experience
Bachelors and/or masters degree in mechanical engineering
8-10 Years of relevant project experience
Work Location
This is a full-time position located in the SunGas offices Monday through Friday. SunGas is located near Fallbrook and W. Sam Houston Parkway N. in Houston. Extended or hybrid remote work options are not available for this position, however we do offer the flexibility to work outside of the office on occasion when necessary.
Travel
This position requires occasional travel up to approximately 10-15% of the time, primarily for business and technical meetings, site and shop visits, and industrial plant facilities.
