Import Operations Specialist

The Import Operations Specialist at Scarbrough represents the company to our clients, coordinates freight and maintains compliance for our clients import activities. The Import Operations Specialist is the main point of contact for our clients and works as an instrumental partner to their import needs.
- Maintain relationships and proactive communication with customers, agents, colleagues, and vendors
- Manage freight lanes and rates, book cargo
- Prepare compliant ISF submissions and customs entries
- Establish dialogue with various government agencies to facilitate resolution on import matters
- Demonstrate accounting skills including client invoicing and vendor payables
- Track incoming shipments and update tracking system to provide visibility
- Coordinate shipments for final delivery
Desired Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a customs-related role
- Minimum 3 years' experience handling air and ocean shipments, including arranging deliveries.
- Knowledge of customs programs (low value imports, bonded shipments, temporary imports, etc).
- Exceptional customer service skills with the desire to go above and beyond for all clients
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, as well as proficient knowledge of Google Docs
- Knowledge of applicable customs laws, regulations, trade agreements
Additional Ideal Qualifications
- Experience working in CargoWise
- CCS or CTCS Designation
- Freight experience
