What You’ll Be Doing
CIBC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our DevSecOps & Automation team. This role is responsible for driving the adoption of secure, automated software delivery practices across the organization, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our technology platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, DevSecOps methodologies, and automation frameworks, with proven leadership capabilities.

How You’ll Succeed
DevSecOps Strategy & Implementation – Define and execute the DevSecOps roadmap, KPI, quarterly OKR aligning with business and technology objectives, and ROI goals. Championing the integration of security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Oversee the implementation and management of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing frameworks, quantifying ROI.
Leveraging technology - Become a technology expert. Identify opportunities for automation across development, deployment, and operational processes. Evaluate, implement, and maintain tools for configuration management, monitoring, and security compliance.
Strategic Minded – You’ll build and execute on communication strategies in support of key business initiatives that impact TI&I team members, partners and CIBC clients. You will work closely with the SEVP and Group Head, TI&I and her senior leadership team to develop and execute communication strategies and plans that foster a solid understanding of TI&I’s purpose-driven mandate to run, protect and transform the bank.
**Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:  ** Work closely with software engineering, security, infrastructure, and business teams to deliver secure, reliable solutions. Communicate technical concepts and project status to stakeholders at all levels.
Governance & Compliance: Ensure all DevSecOps practices comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.  Drive initiatives to improve auditability, traceability, and risk management within technology operations.
Who You Are
You bring 8-12 years of related experience OR Combination of education and experience, ideally within financial services or technology, 6+ years of experience in a leadership or management capacity.
You have a Strategic Mindset: Ability to think strategically about the bank's objectives, and solve complex problems, aligning projects with broader business goals.
You have a Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp.
You have extensive knowledge of banking products, services, and industry regulations; expert understanding of current industry trends and developments; ability to influence strategic decisions using industry knowledge
You have lead compliance adherence within your area of responsibility; ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements; engaging with Compliance and Audit teams as needed.
You have overseen risk management activities within your team, influenced risk culture, and aligned risk management with departmental goals.
You are goal oriented. You’re motivated by accomplishing your goals and delivering your best to make an ensuring alignment with organizational strategy .
You embrace and advocate for change : You bring new perspectives to drive change and improve the current state to align with the organization's broader strategic goals. You have the ability to implement organizational change for DevOps and Automation, including education of staff, explaining concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and ability to communicate and advocate to senior leadership.
You act as a Subject Matter expert in DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD, IaC, containerization, and automated security testing.
You have proficiency with tools such as , GitLab CI, Git Actions, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and security scanning tools.  Proven experience with adoption of GitHub/GitHub Actions for enterprise CI/CD.
Strong hands-on expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM Templates, and Ansible.
You have a solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid cloud environments.
You can demonstrate success in implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) with UiPath and leveraging AI-driven automation tools such as AI Agnetic Flow and Copilot.
It’s an asset if you have prior experience in leading Test Automation with advanced knowledge of test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, TOSCA) , behavioral driven development and data-driven testing methodologies.
** You are experienced in DORA** metrics and other quality/efficiency KPIs to drive continuous improvement.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
