Job Position Description: Community Action is seeking a compassionate and self-reliant individual to maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for residents and staff. As a Shelter Resident Assistant, you'll be the primary staff presence during your shifts, overseeing a shared living space for five families. This vital role involves direct interaction with residents, conflict resolution, and ensuring the smooth operation of our 24/7 facility. Abbreviated Duties List: Provide direct support and oversight: Monitor resident activities, ensure policy adherence, and secure the facility. Conflict resolution and de-escalation: Identify and address potential conflicts between residents or family members. Emergency response: Respond appropriately to crises and complete incident reports. Shelter intake & coordination: Conduct phone screenings, manage shelter waiting lists, and make referrals to our network. Operate our daily food pantry: Screen clients, distribute food boxes, and maintain food safety standards. Maintain facility standards: Oversee resident chores, perform light maintenance, and ensure cleanliness. Recordkeeping & communication: Maintain detailed shift logs, complete participant records, and communicate effectively with staff. Customer Service: Answer phones, greet visitors, and assist with general office duties. Abbreviated Requirements: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of one year working with low-income populations in a social service setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Independence: Proven ability to work independently and handle emergency situations. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong cultural awareness. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with diverse community members. Boundaries: Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
