We are searching for a hands-on Senior Network Development Engineer to significantly contribute to our IP networks designated for public sector regions. You will play a crucial role in the design, engineering, implementation, operations, reliability, and sustainability of cutting-edge networks while also creating automated solutions to facilitate scale and efficiency as we expand. This position can be based in Herndon, VA, Arlington, VA, or Seattle, WA.
Your Project Role:
Take full ownership of both existing and new IP network designs, engineering, implementation, and operations escalation.
Lead the evolution of highly available hyper-scale networks from conception to launch.
Define and influence strategic initiatives within the team and broader organization.
Guide project teams to achieve meaningful outcomes for our customers.
Collaborate with network engineers and software developers to automate network deployment and operational processes.
Drive projects focused on operational excellence to enhance network performance and reliability.
Tackle complex troubleshooting scenarios and develop innovative solutions.
Mentor and coach junior engineers to foster their growth.
Implement and review changes to the network systems.
Physical and Other Requirements:
Participate in an off-hours operations escalation pager rotation.
Engage with customers effectively during problem resolution in high-pressure situations.
Remain attentive while working at a computer for scheduled hours with appropriate breaks.
Travel as necessary to data center/network locations and Amazon/customer offices.
To qualify for this position, candidates must be U.S. citizens and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI with a polygraph.

Basic Qualifications:
8+ years' of experience with major internet routing protocols.
5+ years' in a Linux/Unix environment.
3+ years' experience with automation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, Perl).
Familiarity with IP networking technologies like BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, TCP, SLB, and packet forwarding architectures.
Experience in network design, engineering, implementation, and operations.
Successful track record in leading network solutions' planning, engineering, and operations.
Bachelor's degree in Networking, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to drive complex network projects and operational excellence initiatives.
Expertise in developing network automation software.
Capability to handle customer-impacting network events effectively.
Strong skills in working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Aptitude for dealing with ambiguity while prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
