Our Infrastructure Security (InfraSec) team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the security of Coinbase's foundational infrastructure and platform services. In this position, you will work closely with engineering teams to design, implement, and automate advanced security measures within complex cloud and container environments. Your extensive experience with technologies like Kubernetes and AWS will make you a valued advisor to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, guiding essential decisions that harmonize security, scalability, and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain robust security controls across multi-cloud environments (including AWS, GCP) and Kubernetes clusters, as well as containerized workloads (Docker).
Establish secure-by-default patterns for infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and container orchestration platforms.
Utilize Go programming to automate security workflows, enforce guardrails, and integrate security solutions effectively.
Conduct thorough security assessments of cloud architecture, data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks), and routing configurations to identify vulnerabilities and propose enhancements.
Collaborate with engineering teams to incorporate security measures into platform service design and deployment.
Work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of security initiatives with overall business objectives, effectively balancing security, risk, and enablement.
Evaluate security requirements during mergers and acquisitions (M&A), ensuring a seamless and secure integration of acquired entities.
Advocate for sound technical decisions and risk management strategies among senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring secure and scalable outcomes.
Lead the continuous enhancement of security policies, threat detection capabilities, and incident response automation.
What We Look For:
7+ years of infrastructure security experience, showcasing strong expertise in AWS and Kubernetes, along with in-depth knowledge of at least one of these technologies.
Proficiency in Go programming for automation, as well as experience deploying infrastructure using Terraform.
Expertise in modern cloud and containerized platforms, including securing data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and managing cloud edge security.
Proven ability to collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams, ensuring that security initiatives align with company goals.
Experience in guiding senior leaders and stakeholders regarding technical decisions, risk trade-offs, and strategies for enablement.
Execution-focused mindset, comfortable navigating ambiguity and delivering impactful results.
Commitment to furthering an open financial system that connects people globally.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, including platforms like GCP and Vercel alongside AWS and local systems.
Proficiency in creating Rego rules for Open Policy Agent (OPA) or similar tools to enforce security policies at scale.
Familiarity with physical networking and data center security, encompassing the safeguarding of physical infrastructure and network hardware management.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position ranges from $218,025 to $256,500 USD. Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
