Summary
The Senior Estimator is responsible for producing proposals for the construction of solar energy projects. The role requires reviewing project requirements, performing material take-offs, obtaining subcontractor and vendor pricing, and collaborating with internal teams to prepare project resource plans and schedules.
Essential Functions Thoroughly review and understand each estimate request including scope of work and proposal deliverables. Coordinate estimate requests with stakeholders, ensure timely and accurately comply with responses to each estimate request. Determine project resource requirements (labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, etc.). Obtain quotes from appropriate subcontractors and vendors. Negotiate the best deal for cost, quality, and delivery. Ensure agreements and documentation is received in a timely manner. Obtain pricing, schedule, and other inputs from internal Engineering and Procurement groups. Identify opportunities for cost and schedule optimization. Coordinate and lead internal reviews of prepared budgets with stakeholders. Train, lead and manage junior estimators, ensure estimates are delivered on time. Review the estimate drafts with junior estimators to ensure the accuracy and quality of estimates. Other Duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, warehouse, and job sites. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently be on-site at the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from low to moderate. This position may be performed in outside weather conditions.

In addition, the position may lift heavy objects, 50lbs or less, walk and stand for extended periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and will require longer hours and frequent weekend work.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in construction management or electrical engineering 4 years experience estimating in Heavy Civil, Electrical, and/or Utility Construction. 2 years of experience estimating in Solar/BESS construction. Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills Able to multi-task, be organized, and meet strict deadlines. Familiarity with typical construction RFP documents. Strong Proficiency with Microsoft office Suite Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software Effective communication skills and diligence Preferred Education and Experience Experience with MS Office Knowledge with NEC code Experience with Procore Experience with solar construction techniques, codes, and requirements. CAD, Bluebeam, and other software necessary to be self-sufficient are preferred.
