What You Will Contribute To Altos An exciting opportunity is available for a talented Senior Director / Executive Director to join the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Development Sciences team at Altos Labs. We seek highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individuals passionate about restoring cell health and reversing disease. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to develop novel therapeutic projects across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities. Candidates should have strong scientific training, experience with traditional and non-traditional therapeutic modalities, and a proven track record leading Toxicology groups in biotech or pharma industries. Responsibilities Develop and implement Toxicology strategies and infrastructure to support discovery and development, utilizing internal resources and CROs. Recruit and manage scientists and leaders to support Toxicology across Altos sites, ensuring high-quality data for regulatory submissions. Conduct safety assessments for early therapeutic targets and collaborate with Science Institutes to de-risk target safety. Plan and execute in vitro safety screens for small molecules, ASOs, and gene therapy vectors. Coordinate with CROs for external toxicology studies. Represent Toxicology in multidisciplinary discovery and development teams. Collaborate with Institutes of Science, In Vivo Pharmacology, and DMPK to optimize drug leads. Contribute to regulatory document reviews, including Toxicology sections. Lead and promote innovative approaches applying cutting-edge science to projects. Build strong partnerships with Science groups. Foster a team culture of continuous improvement, ownership, growth, and inclusion. Who You Are Qualifications PhD in Toxicology, Pharmacology, or related sciences (or DVM) with 15-20+ years industry experience in Pathology/Toxicology. Deep expertise in Drug Development with a successful record of bringing drugs from Discovery to Clinic. Experience with regulatory filings and interactions. Strong scientific skills in elucidating mechanisms of toxicity and expertise in Discovery Toxicology. Proven ability to lead and build Toxicology teams. Experience with preclinical models and data interpretation. Knowledge of safety endpoints integration in drug development. Animal research ethics centered on 3Rs principles. Critical thinking and pragmatic decision-making skills. Excellent communication and influencing skills for internal and external relationships. Preferred Qualifications Experience across diverse therapeutic modalities (small molecules, biologics, nucleic acids, gene therapy). Leadership experience in discovery teams. Background in pathology preferred. Salary Range in Redwood City, CA: Senior Director: $324,700 - $439,300 Executive Director: $357,000 - $483,000 Compensation varies based on skills, experience, and location.
