This position is responsible for a wide range of administrative/clerical/secretarial duties for an academic department. Essential Job Duties
Provide faculty, staff, students, and the general public with responses to requests for information; Operate, manage, and maintain the critical systems of the departmental office; Keep accurate and accessible files, records, reports, documents, and information; Organize and maintain records for incoming and current students, and for graduates for periodic follow-up; Maintain an inventory and systematic monitoring of supplies and equipment; Serve as the principal resource to aid the department chair in anticipating the needs of faculty and students; Act decisively and proactively in advance to provide for those needs in a timely fashion; Serve as the department's principal source for immediate problem-solving; Play an active role in the recruitment and vetting of adjunct faculty; Build and maintain a knowledgebase concerning systems, policies, processes, procedures, and personnel (e.g. The building, multiple degree programs, multiple minors, university student handbook, course schedule, academic clubs, and organizations in all programs); Hire, train, and supervise work-study students; Maintain full responsibility for all office projects and procedures, using student workers in limited and appropriate roles of support staff; Use and maintain the departmental website and other light media; Perform all other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Create and maintain spreadsheets; Lift student holds and register students; Arrange textbook orders, distribute and receive completed textbook order forms, and order desk copies; Record catalog changes for publication; Generate faculty forms, budgetary forms, and edit/print student programs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of university polices and procedures; Knowledge of the general studies component; Knowledge of the disciplines supported; Knowledge of and proficiency in current technology (Microsoft Office, email, etc.); Knowledge of admissions and student financial aid processes, policies, and procedures; Ability to work independently, multi-task, and maintain confidentiality; Ability to use Banner system; Ability to work under pressure; Ability to interact effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, visitors, and the general public. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/equivalent, required; Some college education/completion of a bachelor's, preferred; Two years of related experience, required. Retirement Plans

UNA provides remission of tuition to eligible employees and to their spouses and qualified dependent children.
Paid Time Off - Annual leave is accrued for each hour worked. During the first 2 years of employment, the accrual is 10 workdays. After completion of 2 years of continuous service, eligible employees are entitled to 12 days of annual leave and, for each additional year of service, annual leave is increased by one day per year to a maximum of 20 days after 10 years. - Full-time regular staff members are entitled to 96 work hours (12 workdays) of sick leave each year at the employee's regular rate of pay regardless of length of service. - Full-time, regular staff employees are eligible for paid holidays.
