About The Position
The Sheriff's Office is looking for a capable, detail-focused, and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Account Clerk. This position offers the opportunity to support essential financial processes and make a meaningful contribution to the department's mission. Under direction, the Senior Account Clerk performs responsible accounting duties pertaining to the preparation and review of financial and statistical records and reports; and does other related work as required. This is the senior level clerical accounting classification. It is distinguished from the Account Clerk by requiring incumbents to perform difficult financial, statistical, or accounting work.
This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a positive self-starter who enjoys working at a quick pace. The incumbent will have knowledge of purposes, methods, and practices of financial record keeping; double-entry bookkeeping; fiscal accounting terminology; general banking procedures; office methods, practices, and procedures; and automated office equipment. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain complex records, analyze data, and prepare accurate reports; use independent judgment in carrying out instructions concerning maintenance of fiscal records; handle routine correspondence and related clerical tasks independently; make mathematical calculations accurately and rapidly; operate automated office equipment; supervise and train subordinate personnel; follow oral and written directions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:
One year of experience as an Account Clerk or an equivalent position.

Pension Benefit and Employee Contribution Rates: The County's pension is a defined benefit plan that provides a guaranteed monthly pension payment for life based on your time in service, wages, and other factors. The County is the primary contributor to the pension fund, but the health of the pension fund also depends on mandatory employee contributions. Employees are required to pay a percentage of their base pay towards the pension fund, ranging from 5% to 19%. This amount is deducted from your paycheck pre-tax every pay period.
