Job Goal: The primary role of the Personnel Secretary is to manage the personnel area, maintain personnel records and contribute to the operational success of the HR Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of college preferred.
2. Minimum of three (3) years Human Resources experience in a public school setting preferred
3. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
4. Knowledge and experience in basic office procedures and small office equipment.
5. Must have excellent communication and telephone etiquette. The ability to work successfully with other professionals.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prompt and regular attendance Greets all visitors in a courteous manner, determines needs and directs them to the appropriate person. Distributes and accepts HR related documents. Assists with processing applications. Maintains and updates personnel records. Types a variety of written correspondence. Assists with processing Livescans and background checks. Prepares materials; hiring, benefits, presentations and meetings. Completes employment verifications, past work experience and disability/medical claim forms. Processes general requests for information concerning employment, certification and other personnel related issues. Assists with new hire and benefits orientation and substitute testing and training. Provides coverage to Central Office Receptionist as needed and requested. Copies materials as needed. Prepare and mails information as requested. Receives and sorts departmental mail. Orders and maintains office supply inventory. Maintains copiers, printers, fax and postage meter. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System's approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
