Borough Secretary, Borough of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania The Borough of Vandergrift is actively seeking applications for a full-time Borough Secretary. The Borough of Vandergrift has a population of approximately 5,000 residents. The Borough Secretary reports to the Borough Council and is responsible for the general oversight of all of the Boroughs day-to-day operations. The Borough Secretary performs a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks relating to the operation of Vandergrift Borough, including managing payroll for employees of the Borough, attending and recording minutes for monthly and special meetings of the Borough Council, serving as the Boroughs Open Records Officer, and engaging with and responding to concerns of the residents of the Borough of Vandergrift. The Borough Secretary works closely with members of Council, the Borough Solicitor and Borough Engineer to ensure that Borough operations are in conformance with the Boroughs policy directives, rules, regulations, the Pennsylvania Borough Code, and other applicable legislation. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of local government procedures and municipal management experience is preferred. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field. Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Familiarity with navigating government websites and online portals to retrieve and submit essential documents and the ability to learn and satisfy government regulations relating to the operation of the Borough. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Diligence and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Applicant must have a valid drivers license and be bondable. Excellent accounting and auditing skills. Proficiency in the use of computer programs, including spreadsheet, database and payroll software programs Professionalism in all communication with coworkers, Council members, Borough residents and third parties. Clean Criminal Background Check and Credit Report Position Details: Full-Time Position; Monday-Friday 8:00 am 4:00 pm This position requires flexibility to work a minimum of one evening per month, typically for Council-related meetings. Salary and benefits will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
