Surgery RN Weekend Shift at ScionHealth summary: The Surgery RN Weekend Shift is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. The RN also educates patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and policies. The Registered Nurse - Surgery (RN-Surgery): Provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients within an acute care hospital setting Utilizing the nursing process, the RN-Surgery assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes This role supports surgical interventions across all age groups and ensures patient safety, comfort, and education throughout the perioperative process Delivers patient-centered nursing care based on established standards of care and the nursing process Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and in accordance with policy Documents all aspects of patient care clearly and accurately Monitors, evaluates, and communicates patient condition to healthcare team, patient, and family Coordinates and collaborates with surgical and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients throughout the surgical experience Competency in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies Willingness to comply with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within time frame specified in facility policy) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required within timeframe specified in facility policy) Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred Previous perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred surgical nursing, perioperative care, patient safety, acute care, nursing assessment, medication administration, clinical judgment, patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, healthcare compliance
