Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Oregon is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary care group, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across a variety of hospital settings, including emergency, critical care, surgical, and medical units. In this role, you will assess patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans, and adjust therapies based on clinical status and provider orders. You will administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosol and inhaled medications, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques, while carefully monitoring patient responses and documenting care in the electronic medical record. A central part of your responsibilities will include the safe and effective management of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, including ventilator setup, ongoing adjustments, troubleshooting alarms, and participation in weaning and extubation processes in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff. You will perform and interpret basic respiratory diagnostics such as arterial blood gas sampling, pulse oximetry, and peak flow or bedside pulmonary function assessments, communicating results promptly to the care team. As an essential participant in emergency response, you will respond to codes, rapid responses, and respiratory distress calls, providing airway management, bag-valve-mask ventilation, and support for intubation as needed. You will follow strict infection prevention and patient safety protocols while maintaining and checking respiratory equipment to ensure proper operation and readiness. Education is a vital part of this position; you will provide patients and families with instruction on respiratory conditions, inhaler and nebulizer use, home oxygen safety, and strategies to optimize lung health, always maintaining a patient-centered and empathetic approach.
