Hanover's K12 Practice Area works with over 300 school districts, state and regional education agencies, and independent schools across the country. The K12 Research team synthesizes academic and practitioner-focused research to drive our clients' most consequential decisions. Hanover's K12 Practice Area helps K-12 leaders educate and communicate with stakeholders, make research-informed decisions, and implement best practices.
The Role
As a Research Associate, you will support research projects that include literature reviews, policy briefs, peer profiling/case studies, and research briefs. The RA works under the guidance of Research Directors and other senior research staff to execute individual projects for K-12 clients. In addition, the RA will have the opportunity to contribute to Hanover's proprietary online library of research on key topics in education, as well as the opportunity to work with other members of the research team to develop seminal thought-leadership pieces (such as white papers, conference presentations, and trends reports) that are distributed to K-12 leaders across the country.
Responsibilities
Conducting secondary research to address research questions related to key components of K-12 education (e.g., strategic planning, curriculum, instruction, school culture/climate, operations, community engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, etc.)
Analyzing and synthesizing secondary source material (e.g., best practice research, literature reviews, empirical studies, district/school documentation) in order to:
Draw key insights from the literature
Make actionable recommendations to decision-makers
Writing reports and creating other types of deliverables (e.g., presentations, infographics) to communicate findings to different types of audiences (e.g., district and school administrators and instructional staff, parents, students, community members)
Effectively managing the phases of the project life cycle (i.e., research, analysis and synthesis, and deliverable creation) to ensure we meet deadlines and deliver research to clients in a timely manner

Required
Experience conducting social science research in a professional or academic setting, having developed the ability to:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to closely proofread/self-edit own work
Ability to succinctly and efficiently synthesize content
Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Demonstrated interest in K-12 education
Preferred
Experience conducting K-12 research in a professional or academic setting
Familiarity with federal and state education databases
Writing for a business/non-academic audience
Experience in designing compelling visuals to communicate results (e.g., charts and graphs, infographics)
Education Requirement
A Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Economics, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or a related discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience and who hold other degrees will be considered.
