Description: The candidate must have a minimum of two years of experience. First-time travelers are accepted. The patient population includes adults to geriatrics. The telemetry unit diagnoses include CHF, MI/chest pain (pre- and post-cath), dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), hypo-/hypertension, pleural effusion, sepsis, and PE/DVT/vascular issues. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5, with an average daily census of 35. Unit systems utilized include Epic (mandatory), Pyxis, and SBAR. Scrub color required is navy blue. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend. Floating to other units may be required. There are no on-call requirements. If one major holiday occurs during the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays occur, the traveler is expected to work both. In the case of three major holidays, the traveler is expected to work two of them. Major holidays include New Year's Eve and Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and Christmas Eve and Day. Full compliance is required to start on time; if not compliant on time, there is a two-week pushback due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule. Candidates will be reviewed clinically to determine fit. Local candidates are accepted. Medical or religious exemptions are allowed for the flu vaccine only. Two supervisory references are highly preferred at the time of submission. RTO should not exceed 7 days and must be included with submission. Major holidays occurring during the assignment period will affect RTO policies. Candidates must be available to submit required items within 48 hours of signing the contract to ensure an on-time start. Modules are non-billable and completed during orientation, varying by specialty. Orientation hours total 13 hours.
