JOB DESCRIPTION: The CVMC Clinical Informaticist, RN-1 identifies opportunities for optimum utilization of the clinical information system workflow for clinical processes. This position requires an understanding of ambulatory and/or hospital clinical processes or patient access and revenue cycle management, depending on need. The Network Clinical Informaticist, RN-1 assists the credentialed trainers and principal trainers with creating and maintaining end user training documentation for users of Epic’s clinical and clinical ancillary applications. The Network Clinical Informaticist, RN-1 will function as a liaison between nursing, other clinical disciplines and Information Services, collaborate with the medical informatics team to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of clinical technologies on patient care and identify optimization opportunities. This position serves as a liaison for clinicians to facilitate a common understanding of information system needs, end user processes, interoperability, and alignment with organizational goals.
The Network Clinical Informaticist, RN-1 will have a specific focus on the Epic Optimization Sprints. This position requires the ability to work with senior clinical and medical group leaders to prioritize and plan Epic Optimization Sprint work as well as the ability to work effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and other clinic staff during Epic Optimization Sprint planning, implementation and follow up.
The ability and means to regularly travel throughout the UVM Health Network is required.
EDUCATION: BA/BS or higher strongly preferred Registered Nurse (RN) license required Registered Nurse with current unencumbered Vermont license. BA/BS required, BSN preferred; BLS certification required upon hire and maintained thereafter. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite preferred. Demonstrated interest in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of clinical scopes of practice for roles within both ambulatory and acute care setting is preferred. Strong oral, written, and electronic communication skills are required. Strong presentation skills are required. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships is essential. Further skills desired in this role include: Demonstrated knowledge of revenue cycle and patient access workflows Ability to communicate general and complex information in terms understood by end users Strong organizational and time management skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively in small groups Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of flexibility and adaptation to change Knowledge of adult learning and teaching principles Demonstrated ability to use analytical and data management tools EXPERIENCE: 3 years of nursing experience preferred. Demonstrated interest in Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) is preferred. Prior experience in the EPIC environment is preferred.
Requirements:
Current RN licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.
Appropriate experience in specific clinical area. Varies by unit.
