Regional Starts and Compliance Specialist (Focus: Insurance & Contract Compliance)

David Weekley Homes is seeking a Regional Starts and Compliance Specialist to join our Regional Purchasing Services team. This role will primarily focus on managing insurance and contract compliance for our Preferred Partners, acting as the region’s first internal point of review before documentation is routed to the Legal team. This role will also oversee the setup of Preferred Partners in our system, ensuring everything is properly aligned for success. While this position will concentrate on insurance and compliance, the ideal candidate is also cross-trained (or willing to be) on job starts and start proofs. You’ll work closely with a counterpart focused on the starts side to provide ongoing mutual support and occasional coverage during absences and high-volume periods. Job Responsibilities: Compliance: Manage the review and follow-up of insurance documents with third parties and ensure that Preferred Partners maintain up-to-date data and insurance; place partners on hold as needed Communicate and collaborate with Local Purchasing and Legal Teams to resolve any insurance issues that may delay approvals or cause Preferred Partners to be placed on hold due to expired insurance Work with Accounting Team to set up Preferred Partners Work with Corporate Legal Team to maintain current contract documentation for each market in the region Store signed Preferred Partner Agreements, Statements of Work (SOW), and ensure contract documents from Local Teams are complete and properly filed Starts: Run and review start proofs and address any issues with Local Purchasing Teams Post job starts Qualifications
Background or experience in commercial insurance, with a strong understanding of key coverages such as General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto, and Umbrella/Excess Liability Ability to review COIs & full policies and identify missing or incorrect information (e.g. expired coverage, missing endorsements, incorrect policy limits, etc.) Familiarity with contract language related to insurance requirements, such as additional insured endorsements, waiver of subrogation, and indemnity provisions Insurance experience in the construction industry is a plus Strong professional communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members and Preferred Partners Proven ability to hold team members and partners accountable to established policies and requirements Highly organized, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and interactions across a multi-city region Results-driven, with a focus on exceeding expectations and meeting deadlines A process-oriented mindset, continuously seeking improvements to achieve business goals more effectively Collaborative team player committed to helping the team reach business objectives and understanding the role within the broader business process
