Pay: $18-$23/hour-70 cents per mile when travel is required
Position Overview
We are seeking a flexible and patient-focused Regional Medical Assistant (Float) to join our growing healthcare team in the Jacksonville area. This role is ideal for a highly adaptable professional who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and supporting multiple clinic locations.
The Regional MA Float will perform both clinical and administrative duties, assist providers with patient care, and travel within the region to support various offices. This is a safety-sensitive position involving direct patient care, including administering medications and assisting with procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical history, vital signs, and documenting in the EMR
- Assist providers with exams, treatments, and in-office procedures
- Administer medications (oral and injectable), perform wound care, and support IV therapy as directed
- Perform diagnostic testing including EKGs, pulse oximetry, and other in-office procedures
- Conduct phlebotomy and process lab specimens for send-out
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the EMR
- Provide patient education regarding treatments, medications, and follow-up care
- Manage front desk responsibilities including patient check-in/out, scheduling, and phone triage
- Coordinate patient care through appointment reminders, medication follow-ups, and outreach calls
- Clean, sterilize, and prepare exam rooms and instruments
- Monitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies and medications
- Assist with onboarding and training of new staff
- Travel within the region (up to 85%) to support clinic operations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (CMA or RMA)
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred
- CPR certification preferred
- IV start and phlebotomy experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding, HIPAA, and OSHA standards
- Experience with EMR systems and basic computer proficiency
- Strong communication and customer service skills

At least one year of clinical MA experience
* Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.

* Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
* Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
* Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
* Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
* Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
* Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.
