Schedule: Hybrid, Monday to Friday (8:30am-5:00pm)

We’re hiring a Quality Improvement Specialist to help elevate the impact of programs that support housing stability, financial literacy, and safe travel for vulnerable individuals across Chicago. In this role, you’ll work with the Project Manager of Quality Improvement and Outcomes and cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards and contract compliance across our Housing, Asset Building, and Traveler’s Aid initiatives.
You’ll turn data into action, analyzing performance, identifying gaps, and developing training and workflows that drive improvement. Your work will directly strengthen the services we provide to people navigating housing crises or traveling through O’Hare Airport in search of safety and stability.

Essential Functions:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitors data quality and if needed, works with the Project Manager, Outcomes and Quality Improvement to develop and implement strategies and systems to improve data quality.
- conducts data-related audits (including data system audits) and reports findings to the program management and the Project Manager, Outcomes and Quality Improvement.
- Assists in development and facilitation of in-service training and meetings related to program performance, data quality monitoring, and contract compliance as well as data collection systems and outcomes analysis
- Manages new users onboarding by developing and maintaining training materials, as well as scheduling and leading in-person sessions.
- Monitors internal support inbox and provides technical assistance to the end users for all data systems.
- Assists in the design, user acceptance testing, and implementation of database system’s new and improved functionality to optimize data collection for continuous quality improvement. Assists in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, policies, user manuals, and participant facing forms.
- Provides support in identifying opportunities for data informed quality improvement initiatives and assists in the implementation of these quality improvement projects.
- Troubleshoots basic technical problems related to data entry and reporting within database systems used by the Housing Asset Building Travelers Aid Initiative.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma and seven years of related experience, or,
- Bachelors’ Degree and three years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (K/S/A):
Language Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated writing skills and competency in quantitative analysis may be required. Ability to provide clear oral and written technical directions.
Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook, is required. Demonstrated ability to clean/prepare large data sets for basic analysis/data summaries and performing summaries of the data is required. Passing specific excel skills testing will be required. Experience with Salesforce, Formula, HMIS, Adobe Pro; and other software routinely used by Heartland Human Care Services is preferred.
Work Arrangement:
This role is eligible for a “hybrid” or “remote” work arrangement. If hybrid, it is expected this person would be able to meet for “in person” meetings when needed or at the request of others. In-person meetings may be required on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, etc.). There may also be the availability to work from home when appropriate.
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Program sites are located throughout the Chicago area, including the North and South sides of Chicago, as well as the suburbs. Employees may be required to report to any one of our locations on a temporary or permanent basis.
- The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- This position demands that the employee be able to talk, hear and maintain close/distance vision.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and sit.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
