Supervisor: Director of Publications
Summary: This position is responsible for proofreading and assisting with the daily operations of the division.
Duties and Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service. Proofread publications and graphics produced by the division. Assist with copyediting as needed. Process filings and documents according to legal requirements or policies. Required tasks include formatting, managing, reporting, and publishing incoming files and documents. These include, but are not limited to: Acts and Resolutions Board and Commission Vacancies Executive Orders Proclamations Rules and Regulations Oaths of Office Determinations of Necessity Foreclosure Website Listings Correctional Card Applications
Assist with content acquisition and proofreading of the Tennessee Blue Book, published every two years. Assist with the distribution of the Tennessee Blue Book. Cross-train for division functions and provide coverage and production assistance as needed. Assist, as needed, in the production of other printed materials. Perform various duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. English majors preferred but not required. Qualifying full-time, increasingly responsible, relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years. Experience with proofing, print production, and/or design preferred but not required. Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent organizational skills with a vast volume of documents and good communication skills are a must. Detail-oriented and thorough. Ability and willingness to learn about technology, government, and professional behavior. Basic knowledge and use of Microsoft Office and Adobe software. Knowledge of Adobe software is preferred but not required General office and clerical skills. Ability to proofread and have overall knowledge and correct usage of spelling and grammar. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to manage various tasks throughout the day. Ability to communicate clearly and pleasantly with staff and the public. Ability to learn new software. Ability to coordinate the administrative needs for the division. Ability to perform in a remote work environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift boxes up to 30 pounds regularly. Ability to push a 300-pound cart regularly.
Location: The official workstation is the Tennessee Tower in downtown Nashville, TN. After a period of time, the Director may consider allowing remote work.
Hours: The official work hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Central Time. After a period of time, consideration may be given, at the discretion of the Director, to allow for an adjustment to the work hours.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and the state of Tennessee benefits package.
