Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity located in Poway, CA for a Project Engineer working on the MQ‑9B Team to develop, test, and field the system for customer operations. This position will support development and fielding of a new UAS variant to international customers who plan to use the system to perform maritime surveillance missions. The Project Engineer will support both technical and programmatic management, report to the MQ‑9B engineering manager, represent the company as a technical subject matter expert, interact with key suppliers, and coordinate between internal organizations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Confluence Administration: Create, update, and organize technical documentation, project pages, and knowledge bases in Confluence for the MQ‑9B program.
  • Integrated Product Support (IPS): Assist with publication related activities, including data entry, tracking, and reporting to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to collect and distribute technical information.
  • Ensure all documentation and data meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to documentation and training.
  • Travel (25%) is required to support customer meetings and integration/testing at our airport facilities.
  • Support operation of engineering systems and document any problems.
  • Devises new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems.
  • Troubleshoot conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
  • Provide documentation and make technical presentations as required.
  • May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects.
  • Provide direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Observe all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required.
  • An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate is desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience with collaboration and documentation tools such as Confluence and JIRA.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Familiarity with government publication standards and requirements.

Job Type and Salary

Job Type: Full‑Time Salary
Salary range: $68,770 – $116,193
