Raritan Bay Area YMCA seeks an experienced Ballet Instructor to provide beginning ballet instruction that builds fundamental dance skills in a positive and enthusiastic environment. Students range from 3 to 12 years old and are divided into different age and level appropriate classes. This position may require interaction with parents as well as with participants. Classes will be offered on Saturday mornings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead ballet instruction for toddler to pre-school age children.
· Provide program participants with a safe and healthy environment.
· Prepare students to perform in two program showcases throughout the year.
· Ensure that classes are delivered in a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
· Develop group cooperation in class setting.
· Provide program instruction that matches participants’ strengths, assessing challenges and offering guidance for improvement.
· Maintain and submit program documentation as required (lesson plans, monthly reports, incident/accident reports, attendance and sign-in/sign-out sheets).
· Maintain an excellent rapport with participants, other staff, parents and members.
· Maintain clean, safe and orderly work area at all times, by maintaining and storing all equipment neatly and appropriately.
· Recruit youth into the program.
· Supervise program participants, both at the branch and off site programming.
· Keep immediate supervisor informed of any concerns or problems regarding program participants and facilities.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent; two years of college a plus.
· Minimum of two years of experience teaching ballet; one year of experience teaching/working with children and youth.
· Excellent verbal communication skills.
· Bilingual a plus
· Current CPR/AED/First Aid/Child Abuse certification a plus
