Who Are You?
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Database Developer to lead the transformation of clinical data infrastructure. This role is pivotal in reengineering core database development workflows, designing scalable and compliant data systems, and ensuring seamless integration across clinical trial phases. As a Principal Database Developer you will be dedicated to one of our global pharmaceutical clients; a company that is driving the next generation of patient treatment, where individuals are empowered to work with autonomy and ownership. You will be part of the team focused on this transformation initiative with support from both Cytel and our Client. This is an exciting time to be a part of this new program.
As a Principal Database Developer, your responsibilities will include:
Process Reengineering & Oversight:
Collaborate on the redesign of database development workflows to enhance efficiency, quality, and cross-functional integration.
Evaluate and revise existing procedures to align with evolving technologies and internal capabilities.
SOP & Process Flow Development:
Develop and maintain SOPs and technical documentation that outline database lifecycle processes and standards.
Create interactive process maps to support cross-functional understanding and training.
Functional Area Ownership:
Contribute to processes critical to database development functions including but not limited to:
EDC Design and Configuration
Integration of External Data Sources
Clinical Coding
SAE Reconciliation
Data Validation and Quality Control
Blinding and Unblinding Procedures
Database Lock and Archival Processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Data Management leaders and cross-functional workstream groups to ensure database solutions meet requirements and ensure alignment with broader program goals.
Provide subject matter expertise and strategic input to support project planning and execution.
Quality & Compliance:
Ensure all database systems and deliverables meet regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
Support audit readiness and continuous improvement initiatives.
Following project completion may transition into a hands-on Clinical Database Developer Role, where responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
CRF Development
Edit check creation
Study setup
Integration of external data sources with EDC
UAT of EDC
RAVE support during study
Data standards governance
Maintaining audit readiness
Here at Cytel we want our employees to succeed and we enable this success through consistent training, development and support. To be successful in this position you will have:
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Health Informatics, or related field
10+ years of progressive experience in clinical database programming, with significant experience in a leadership or principal-level role.
Proven expertise in process development, SOP writing, and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong knowledge of database architecture, EDC systems (Medidata Rave), and clinical data standards.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of stated requirements.
